Homeowners 'consider move to the country'

A growing number of homeowners in the UK are thinking about moving to the country, according to new research.

The study by Yorkshire Bank found that 62 per cent of people in their 20s feel that living in a city is not vital to their career progression, while nearly half hope to own homes in both the countryside and the city.

It was also found that over 70 per cent are happy to spend over an hour commuting into work.

"Potential buyers are savvier than ever and are really doing their homework when it comes to finding the perfect location to buy," explained Gary Lumby, Yorkshire Bank's head of retail.

"In contrast to the recent trend of buying, improving and moving on, many buyers are concentrating on finding a home where they can settle long-term, and build a future for themselves and their family."

Research released by Yorkshire Bank in March found that many housebuyers are hoping to buy a property in an area with a sense of community.ADNFCR-1054-ID-18580291-ADNFCR
